Welcome to the English 3172 Blog!  Writing, Communities, and New Media students, most of whom are on track to become professional writers, will systematically explore the world of online communities, since they are very likely to be writing in and for these groups of people. Students will gain understanding of why and how online communities form, how those groups function and change over time and by purpose, and what online communities mean to/for intellectual property and collaboration. Whether students teach or “deal” online, they will learn better and more progressive ways to interact with diverse online communities. To find out more details about the course, view 2013-S-3172-Syllabus-2

Students of this course will post their informal and formal analyses of various types of political, economic, and social media.

Great Blog. I am participating in a very similar class at Bemidji State University in Bemidji, MN. If you are interested, you can check out our class blog here>> http://www.erhetoric.org/daybook/ >> which includes links to all of the students’ personal blogs.

Hi, anna. Thanks for commenting on our blog. I used levinson’s book last year. This year we’re using _the social media business equation_. I tried to find your blog, but couldn’t. 😦
